finally, i have the time to blog about my second labour experience...
EDD: 23/11/12 (according to my last menstrual)
Actual day: 13/11/12 (it's the Deepavali Day)
as i mentioned in my previous post... my Gynae did a VE and found that i'm 2cm dilated.. i actually worked till the day i delivered... hahaa... seriously, i did not expect that at all... unlike my first labour, i took my leave earlier to rest at home and wait for the D-Day... it was so different this time, maybe i work in a hospital... and it's very easy and convenient for me that i can actually walk into the labour room anytime... :P
this time round, it was quite similar to my first delivery... especially the timing... it's in the midnight... hahaa...
around 1.50am, i detected something that looks like a "mucus plug" in the toilet bowl after i peed... so i was telling myself... so it was real and i'm going into labour very soon... and yes, soon enough i feel a mild contraction already around 2am...
when i said mild, it was already 7-8mins apart and i couldnt sleep... i was counting and counting while practising my breathing... i still remember clearly how i counted in my heart and from time to time, i look at the time at the astro decoder... one two three... hahahaa... i even walked down to the living hall and tried to distract myself by watching tv... it doesnt really work though... basically i was just closing my eyes and rest while in pain...
soon enough, i already 'tahan' till almost 6am... i went upstairs and took my shower and washed my hair... i quickly blowed it dry and woke my Dear up... we quickly informed my MIL to look after Jordan in case he wake up...
6.30am - packed some dim sum and had it in the car before "checkin-in"... hahaa...i actually feel so weird, walking to the hospital, a place where i called my workplace... seeing the people i knew... hahaa... after registering at the front office, my staff nurse colleague wheeled me into the maternity ward at 1st floor... hahaaaa...i'm just too lazy to walk... :P
around 7am - changed into the hospital gown... and another colleague of mine did another VE... and i was 4cm dilated... strapped on the CTG to check the heartbeat of baby and time the contractions... i still managed to endure the contraction pain and did not ask for any painkiller...
8.45am - i was put on oxytocin drip... to induce the labour... my Gynae said it will speed up the delivery process...
9.30am - it's time for painkiller... hahaaa... they gave me a jab of pethidine... another VE showed that i'm already 6cm dilated... oh my, 4cm more to go... thank God that this time round, i did a lot of research on the techniques of breathing... loooooong breath , short breath... and i can proudly say i managed it very well this time compared to my first time... oh ya, this time, i also experienced catheter for the first time as my bladder was quite full... >.<
11am - the final VE and i'm already 9cm dilated... finally... i was very much in pain... the contractions is killing me... i was so lucky to have a group of supportive "colleagues"... hahaa... especially "Mak Bidan", you know who you are... :) thank you for being there for me, motivating and guiding me... everything was in order... and i know it's time...
11.18am... after a few big pushes... i managed to delivered my lil Ashton... i remember seeing my Gynae holding Ashton in his hand and said "wow, heavy baby... must be 4kilo"... yes, he mentioned KILO... so cute.. another cute thing was, once he's out from my tummy, he actually peed in the air while my Gynae was holding him... hahaaa...he was 3.9kg and 100g heavier than Jordan... i almost fainted again... how i just did that again... another heavy weight baby... :P
as usual, i was kept in the labour room for quite some time as i was bleeding a lot...
