Penang again...

Qing Ming @ Penang
29/03/08 - 30/03/08

last Friday, i went back to Gopeng after work... the traffic was quite congested at the PLUS highway from Rawang towards Batang Kali... but luckily i'm not the driver... hehee... since we have lots of things to bring over for the Qing Ming, my dad borrowed his brother's Toyota Avanza... :P

we left at around 8.30pm after dinner and reached Gopeng quite late at 11pm... we had our supper at Lawan Kuda(quite a funny name)... overnited at my uncle's house at Gopeng...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Penang - Day 1
woke up super early the next morning - 5.30am !! OMG, it's only 5.30am... still dreaming ler... hehee... anyway, we need to leave earlier for Qing Ming at Penang... had some light breakfast at Sg Perak rest area... it's been so long i didnt go to that rest area, and they have upgraded it to a nice and beautiful rest area...

p/s: all the photos during the trip are taken with my brother's Sony Ericsson K810i Cybershot camera phone... :)

it's all about eating in Penang...

then, we checked-in to YMCA International Hostel at Macalister Road... i've stayed there before with my colleagues somewhere last year.. and, for a 5-bedded room with breakfast, it cost us RM105nett only !! since it was just one night stay, we didnt spend much on our lodging... :) it's a wise decision, isnt it ?

didnt take any photos in the room though, but for more info about YMCA Penang, you can login to http://www.ymcapg.com/.. and, that's what i did.. :)

all of us were dead tired and took our nap in the room till dinner time... this time, we went to the famous Gurney Drive for dinner... there's so many hawker stalls with varieties of food there... soon after we parked our car, we walked around the place and took some photos while waiting for my uncle... his whole family were staying at Gurney Hotel, which is 20mins walk to the eateries...

first, i took a pic with my mum...

second, my sis joined us...

third, my brother joined us...

and lastly, a complete family photo of mine... :) looked like a pyramid rite ?? hahaa...

after dinner, we went for a walk at Batu Ferringhi night market... they sell lots of stuff such as souvenirs, t-shirts, cheap DVDs and they even sell some fake branded handbag....

camwhored in the car...

my brother, the driver....

can you spot the Chanel handbag there ??

it's me !!

One Cent

Government’s plan to round up all bills paid at the counter to the nearest five sen comes into effect on April’s Fools Day this year... that will be 4 days from today... !!

The reasoning behind this move is sound; many of us no longer appreciate the value of the one-sen coin, and find it a nuisance.

Rounding up the bill to the nearest five sen will effectively do away with the need for one-sen coins; and when there is finally no demand, Bank Negara will no longer mint the coin.
It is a roundabout way of demonetising a denomination of a currency.

Bank Negara has put into circulation 4.4 billion pieces of one-sen coins over the years but finds that only 1% is being re-circulated. This means that 99% of those coins are not in use.
In most cases, I believe the one-sen coin gets lost. People tend to drop these and don’t bother to look for them. This also means there is some RM4.3mil lost to the monetary system. On top of that, Bank Negara says it cost 4.3 sen to mint a one-sen coin. So the actual loss is well over RM18mil. Now, that's a lot of money!

anyway, back to the main topic...

guess what... i actually kept lots and lots of those One Cent at home.. in an empty XO bottle... hehee....

hmmm, i still remember the last time when the Government decided to take back all those RM1 coin, i brought it to the bank but somehow after the last day, i realised that i still have around 80pcs of the RM1 coin inside a piggy bank !! sobb sob.... so, i've learnt my lesson this time... so i brought it to the office yesterday and counted it one by one before i brought it over to the Maybank opposite my office.... and lastly, banked-in into my account... :) although not much, but still money ma... $$$ !!

my collection... :P

took around half an hour to count and to arrange them...

altogether, RM 14.30 only ler... hahaa...

anyone still keeping those ONE CENT ???
